1 Dead Near China-North Korea Border Due to Torrential Rain

At least one person has been confirmed dead and three others are missing in Dandong, Liaoning Province, near the border between China and North Korea. 

According to Global Times, four people climbed a mountain in Donggang City, Chang’an Township – an area of Dandong City approximately 30 kilometers from the border with North Korea – on the afternoon of July 27. 

The group had climbed the mountain to pick mushrooms. 

After a sudden bout of torrential rain, the group seemingly got into difficulties.

A search and rescue operation initiated by relevant authorities found one of the individuals beside a river on the afternoon of July 28. They were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The three other individuals are still missing, as of press time.

After hitting South China – most severely the coastal provinces of Fujian, Zhejiang and Guangdong – the effects of Typhoon Dussuri have been felt in North China over the past few days, including in southern areas of Liaoning Province.
