North Korea's Air Koryo Resumes Flights Between Shanghai and Pyongyang

Air Koryo has officially resumed flights between Shanghai and Pyongyang, the North Korean capital. A plane belonging to North Korea’s national carrier was spotted at Pudong Airport on Thursday, according to UPI.

Air Koryo is now flying from Pyongyang to Shanghai on Thursdays and Sundays. Planes make the return trip to Pyongyang on Fridays and Mondays.

Air Koryo flights between the two cities were suspended in August of last year. However, the move to resume flights is not a complete surprise.

There was speculation last month that China and North Korea had made arrangements to resume flights between Pyongyang and the Chinese cities of Shanghai, Beijing and Shenyang.

There were also plans to provide flights to both Chengdu and Xi'an. However, it appears those plans are on hold for now.

At this point it’s only possible to purchase tickets in person, not online.
